Apprenticeship Grants Available

Date

10 February 2010

Description

A new grant for employers has just been announced. Known as 'AGE 16 and 17', the grant will enable employers to offer 5,000 (up to 450 in the North East) new Apprenticeship places by taking on an unemployed 16 or 17 year old apprentice immediately. The £2,500 grant is in addition to the costs of training which are already met by the National Apprenticeship Service. The grant is aimed at small and medium sized organisations which would not otherwise be in a position to recruit an apprentice, plus those who might be able to offer more Apprenticeship places. Larger organisations can also be supported if they can demonstrate that they are 'overtraining' to support smaller organisations in their supply chain or the wider sector. 'AGE 16 and 17' is available immediately for employers who are able to offer a job opportunity to a young person. Please bear in mind that it is a short-term, time-limited, measure and only available until the end of March 2010. For those of you who don't know, DBC is one of the highest performing apprenticeship training providers in the North East and if you're interested in taking on an apprentice,as well as providing the training, we can help you find the right young person for your business and apply for the grant. We specialise in apprenticeships in business administration, customer service, accountancy (AAT), hairdressing and beauty therapy. Get in touch with Susan at the club office office (0191 388 4488 or susan@durhambusinessclub.co.uk ) if you want to know more about it but be quick, when the 450 places have gone, they've gone!
