Title

A PASSION FOR POULTRY

Date

23 November 2009

Description

Garden Feathers is celebrating a successful first year in business, thanks to the rise in small scale chicken keeping. The business retails a wide variety of supplies for people that keep poultry and a fabulous range of chicken-themed giftware. Online sales from www.gardenfeathers.co.uk have exceeded all expectations and new product ranges are being added to expand the business for the coming year. The website is run by local chicken-keeper Catalina Tate, who has had a keen interest in poultry for a number of years and decided to turn her passion into a business. Catalina says “Keeping a few chickens in the garden is an easy and rewarding hobby and has really taken off in the past few years. Chickens make wonderful pets and the fresh eggs are a bonus.” An unfortunate side effect of the nation’s growing interest in keeping poultry is the rise in thefts of chickens from back gardens and allotments up and down the country. Catalina and her feathered friends were victims of such a crime on Saturday 17th October when six chickens were stolen from their coop under the cover of darkness. Now Catalina is putting up a reward for anyone who can return her distinctive chickens, which include a Light Sussex bantam, Buff Sussex bantam, two Marans and two Blue Laced Wyandotte bantams.
