With the economic uncertainty faced by the economy and (more importantly) the business community at present, it is clear in South Tyneside that the local businesses are rallying together to help each other through the hard times.
This can be seen no where more so than at South Tyneside Business Network where, with the support of TEDCO, membership has doubled over the last 6 months.
Now victims of their own success they are faced with the question of where to hold the monthly business briefings, that now regularly attract over 50 attendees 25% of whom are visitors looking to become part of this revitalised and dynamic business Network.
Having attracted such a large number of new members the network has undertaken extensive work on it’s website which now offers members an individual web page, event information, and in the near future the opportunity to post business news and book events online. They have also cemented their involvement with BCNE Ltd by having all members listed on the BCNE website, providing them with weekly updates on news and events from around the region.
A further sign of the networks success has been the interest shown by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), who made a presentation at a recent meeting and are now looking to undertake an annual joint event commencing in 2009.
With the increase in members looking set to continue, it is clear that the STBN is hear to stay and perhaps in a few months time they will become one of the largest networks in the BCNE organisation – a force to be reckoned with – and a recognised and respected support organisation in the area and region.
