STAFF at Durham Business Club should be amongst the most contented of employees, after an inspection report from the Investors in People (IIP) awarding body praised the organisation’s outstanding commitment to its workforce.
Investors in People is a national quality standard that sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people.
The accreditation is difficult to obtain and is only awarded after Investors in People Inspectors have conducted a rigorous review. They look at all operational areas and check that the organisation is, among other things, committed to supporting the development of its people and is clear about its aims and objectives and what its people need to do to achieve them.
Assessment North East, which is responsible for IIP accreditation in the region, said: “The club has a very well developed strategic approach to the delivery of its services and pays close attention to effective staff development aimed at delivering its strategy. In this context, the organisation’s understanding and delivery of Investors Principles is exemplary. The club is to be commended for the effectiveness that the relatively small full time team has achieved. Their continued recognition as an Investor in People is confirmed.”
Christine Yule, Development Director, said: “We’re extremely pleased with the IIP accreditation and with the inspector’s remarks. It is wonderful to receive such praise for the work we do and our commitment to staff development.
“It’s been a busy couple of years with our move to new, refurbished offices at Mile House in Chester le Street and exciting developments such as being approved to run the internationally recognised and respected Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) course and our accounting apprentices going on to achieve a 100% pass rate in this qualification. To be nationally recognised, is just the icing on the cake for us.”
